Well done michael_w.michael_w wrote:Reached my 6,000km goal yesterday. If I had not had a broken arm and been off the bike for several weeks I could have made 7,000km so it seems. Next years target has been set at 8,000km
I reached my goal of 6999 and am now trying for 7800. (Lucky year health wise). I will see how I go but might join you on 8000 next year

Now that I know I can stretch to 7,500km, what's an extra 500km next year? I'm in.grt046 wrote:I will see how I go but might join you on 8000 next year

WIth less than three weeks to go I will not make my revised target, mabe another 200 to 300 kleft in the tank.
It's not the end of the year yet and it's summer in Oz so get out there and finish with a burst. Good luck to y'all.

But Colin, does it count as half because you've only got one wheel? Or is it actually equivalent of double?ColinOldnCranky wrote:Just got past 7,000km on the ride in this morning. (7,015 before I head off home.)

Very sorry to hear of your injury.... Was that the only damage? (It's bad enough on its own but what about road rash etc?Mugglechops wrote: I had a fall yesterday and fractured 2 veterbrae in my back. Probably 4 or 5 weeks off the bike.

Im stoked that Im way past the 6000km mark and should see 9000km for the year.
So add in commuting to the mix, my target for 2015 will be 10,000kms

Gee Lewy, you go to extreme measures to get the most out of your medical. Hope it all heals up well and we'll see you on the bike again around February. Well done on the yearly total though. Despite your injuries you've managed a respectable distance, especially considering the amount of dirt and sand involved.Mugglechops wrote:That's me done for the year. 6570kms.

This morning I have logged 7202 for the year so I'll be around100 to 150km short of target. (Still well over my original target though.)
On a more positive note a few minutes after I leave work tonight my old unicycle will have clocked it's 39,000th km.

Have I finally got enough KMs to stop worrying about you?ColinOldnCranky wrote:With my imminent retirement I've been a little pressed for the last ten days. Not quite. You have enough to beat me this year. But you still have next year to worry about me.DavidS wrote:Have I finally got enough KMs to stop worrying about you?ColinOldnCranky wrote:With my imminent retirement I've been a little pressed for the last ten days. At least there is no damage to your bike.
Hope you will be all right after surgery etc.

Welcome to the group of retirees Colin .... it is not a bad stage of life. While you are no longer a threat to DavidS this year next year may be a different story. While he has seen your threat off he seems to turned his attention to me and is nipping at the heels .... with less than a decent ride between us it might be close.
A merry Christmas to all out there and may 2015 bring all good times
Cheers

Next year may be a big challenge, my work will be at 2 locations and the extra location is closer so I'll have to sort something out.ColinOldnCranky wrote:Not quite. GT, you have little to worry about. 99% of my riding is commuting and the last commute is tomorrow. Looks like I'll get about 7,690 this year. Best result yet for me and my average speed has risen from about 22KMh to 24KMh over the last few months which isn't bad considering I have to go through town twice a day.
