Vintage Hillman

Postby Flyingbrick » Tue Jan 17, 2017 12:59 pm

Picked up what I assume is an original vintage Hillman for $100. It was a punt in the dark (listing low on detail) and I think it paid off. Frame has campag drop outs, Cinelli bottom bracket, Suntour GPX groupset and campag record hubs laced to Mavic rims.

There is a serial number also 3523.

I assume this would be late 80's?

Seat post seized :(

Nice. Saw that on the bay and thought it would be a good buy. Should clean up well, if you can get the seatpost out.

Update on the restoration. Dropped the frame off to Gordon Hill and he did an excellent job restoring the frame. Plan to ride this at the 2018 Noosa Strade Bianche.

Yeah, looking good. What's the plan for componentry?

Thinking 7400 Durace. Only have 600 arabesque groupset at the moment and original components.

That's lovely, very cool burnt orange duco, very late '60s VW.
