Google Customer Reviews. What triggeres Google to send you one?

Postby uart » Wed Oct 18, 2017 11:17 am

I notice that approx 2 weeks after my latest online purchase (from Merlin), that Google has sent me an email asking for a customer review of the transaction. It is a very simple and most basic review, merely the clicking of one though to five stars, however I'm not entirely sure what prompts Google to do this.

Other online purchases I've made in the past haven't prompted google to ask this. Perhaps I followed an online lead prior to purchase and haven't been clearing my cookies as often as I usually do. Or is it something Merlin are doing in conjunction with Google, I don't know. Can anyone enlighten me.

Thanks. :)

The Google review is a google 'service' which is triggered by the retailer.

The retailer builds it in (connects it) and then encourage ratings and reviews. The value for the retailer is promotion on the shop itself (kudos / trust) but also on google for shopping offers.
