I'm feeling in the mood for some carbon on my steel road bike. No other real reason except because and I feel like it. There's more to it than that really, but it comes down to not elaborating and writing pages on the enhanced comfort of carbon, reduced road chatter (Noise, vibration and harshness) as compared to steel and of course weight saving (down to 329grams from about 800). I've already switched to an ally seat post and a SRAM 10 speed groupset (carbon is not unfamiliar to my bike).
I'm tossing up between the Ritchey comp 1inch and the Columbus minimal 1inch. I'm leaning towards the Columbus and already pretty much have my mind set on that because of the aesthetics that would suit my bike (the cleaner and more traditional lines). I'm not 100% set though. I thought about other modern carbon forks with an external cup but then I thought they are far too chunky to suit a steel frame. Kinda makes a steel bike look like it forgot to do chest day.
Columbus vs. Ritchey 1" carbon forks.

So is there a question? I won't talk you out of it...
How about a Nashbar fork?

I have the CX version on my commuter bike, has served me well. Not the lightest but very good value, definitely noticed less buzz than the cro-mo fork.

Wasn't so bad last time I did it. AU$46 back in 2014.find_bruce wrote:What was shipping like from Nashbar Matty?
But just trying their checkout again it looks like I can only put in USA or Canada now...
You should be able to find a freight-forwarder. Or maybe email them??

Thanks, I'm open to other, or better options. The amount of buzz I'm getting sometimes riding over divots sometimes is actually making my bones vibrate which isn't fun. I was looking at the Columbus minimal because it has a look that is better suited to steel roadies but its not an absolute must at all.MattyK wrote:So is there a question? My main concern and I guess question is this... How do I best remove the buzz that is coming through the forks to the handlebars?
I have some ideas, some may eventually involve a new stem and carbon bars also because after a semi-long ride doing 40 or 50kms the vibration is actually making my carpal bones quite sore. I'm not really interested in a new frame at this time so I'm trying to make this one do.

Fatter tyres and lower pressure.Kronos wrote: My main concern and I guess question is this... How do I best remove the buzz that is coming through the forks to the handlebars?
