Pedro, police target cyclists mon 27th Aug

Postby Jmuzz » Thu Aug 23, 2018 1:01 pm

Word is operation Pedro mon 27th August
Usually just Sydney CBD, but police statewide could be told to have zero tolerance for cyclists.

Bells, reflectors, lights at night, helmet, footpath/crossings.

Again? How about a zero tolerance for close passes like I had last weekend?

No mention of the 1mtr rule being enforced
If the R-1 rule is broken, what happens to N+1?

https://www.smh.com.au/national/nsw/cro ... 4zzyw.html

94- Pedestrian offences
37- Cyclists disobey traffic control lights
25- Cyclists ride on footpath
50- Cyclists not wear helmet
98- Other cyclists/traffic offences

Not sure what the other 98 were, was there a single passing distance? Were any for the petty bell?

It seems the SMH has lumped other cyclist offences and other traffic offences in together.

During the operation, the following infringements were issued:

Cyclists disobey traffic control lights – 37

Cyclists ride on footpath – 25

Cyclists not wear helmet – 50

Cyclists other offences – 36

Pedestrian offences – 94

Other traffic offences – 62
