Praxis BB bearing replacement

Postby jasonc » Thu Oct 25, 2018 8:13 pm

I have a praxis converter BB. Praxis don't support replacing the bearings. I notice they are just enduro bearings. Anyone ever replaced the bearings?

Had constant creaking issues with my praxis BB30 to Hollowtech. Tried to talk myself into a Hambini but ended up getting a $30 FSA insert instead. Been good so far - cross fingers

Don't own one, but some units make it easy to get the bearing out by providing a notch (like my Hope BSA30 unit), and some don't. It's not in their interest to make them serviceable.

It just takes patience, persistence and 1/2 decent tools. Oh, and a hammer !! :-)

I've found the bearings at AliExpress. I might just order them

I'd order from a reputable supplier & brand, as bearings ain't bearings. You'll just be changing them really often.

Trek charge a fortune for them (same bearing as bb90). Will look

(AT) Jasonc - there are plenty of bearing suppliers like DIYMTB, Mountainbikes direct, hambini etc. Don't have to buy from manufacturer.

Just look up the bearing number (e.g. 61806-2RS or 6806, or whatever it is - written on the seal).

I'd recommend looking at the Hambini site for some education and supply. Been very good and is really knowledgeable
