Rail trails are shared-use paths recycled from abandoned railway corridors. They can be used for a range of purposes including walking, cycling and horse riding.
The Bicycle Federation of Australia (BFA) is the national peak body representing people who ride bicycles for recreation, transport, tourism, health & fitness and fun. It aims to improve the environment for cycling and encourage more Australians to ride more often. The BFA comprises cycling organisations from States and Territories within Australia. It is a nonprofit organisation and was established in 1979. The BFA also indirectly represents several million Australians who ride bicycles for fun, sport and transport because bikes are useful, healthy and less expensive than most other transport modes.
