				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong>The Sea 2 Summit will take cyclists 248km from Merimbula in the NSW South Coast climbing 5,500 metres <strong>over two days</strong> to Mt Kosciuszko. Race organisers are calling this one of Australia&#8217;s toughest cycling events where weather conditions can dramatically change.</strong></p>
<p>The fully supported event limits participant numbers to 60 and welcomes riders of different levels who will raise money for the redkite charity. Since 2006 this event has raised over $400,000 for redkite which provides emotional, financial and education support services for families with children who have cancer.</p>
<p>On Wednesday August 29 an information evening for interested riders will be held in Surry Hills in Sydney (ca. 6pm). Please RSVP with Kate Brandon (kbrandon@redkite.org.au or 02 9219 4009)<br />

				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong>In two weeks the region around Coffs Habour will turn to two wheels with the Coffs Coast Cycle Challenge on Sunday August 5 which welcomes recreational through to competitive cycles. There is a family route as well as a 60km and 100km route with various categories for men, women and teams.</strong></p>
<p>The route will take cyclists from the Jetty in Coffs Habour down south to Uraunga and Belingen with rainforest cycling and back to Coffs habour. Entry is $60 for the 60km and 100km while for the family ride the entry is $10 per rider.</p>
<p>Registration is still possible and recommended prior to the event though registrations on the day will be accepted.<br />
The event is run by Rotary for the benefit of local charities.</p>

				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong>Lifecycle is charity cycling event to be held in Canberra for the first time in 2012. 48 hours is the active &#8216;event window&#8217; will see participants riding on a circuit around Lake Burley Griffin during the two days. While some cyclists are already planning continuous 45 hours riding (3 hours rest), paraticipants can decide how much time they ride, whether it is an hour as a solo rider for example or as a team riding together or in relay over a longer time period.</strong></p>
<p>The Lifecycle event s for a good cause, raising awareness of Leukemia and blood disorders and aiming to raise money for a purpose built facility in the the ACT.</p>
<p>The official start is 6:00pm on Thursday 13 September 2012 with riding continuing through to 6:00pm on Saturday 15 September 2012. The Lifecycle course will be around Lake Burley Griffin, taking in West and Central basins, with the Event Headquarters to be located at Kings Park.</p>

				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong>As part of the Velo Battle on the Border Cycling Festival, the Tweed Valley will host a Coast to Crater Gran Fondo on May 6, 2012. The 57km Piccolo Fondo, the 136km Fondo and 180km Gran Fondo is not a race though participants can set their own goals.</strong></p>
<p>The courses will take the riders past the Tweed Coast beaches, over the Burringbar Mountain Range and through the winding valleys of northern New South Wales. Each course has been designed so  riders can enjoy the views offered by the biggest erosion caldera in the southern hemisphere, over thousand meters deep and over forty kilometres in diameter.</p>
<p>As a charity event, all funds raised go to Heart Kids which helps to raise awareness and provide treatments for children affected by Childhood Heart Disease (CHD).</p>

				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong>The Coffs Coast Cycle Challenge is a charity ride that takes place amongst the foreshores, hills and woodland of the beautiful Coffs Coast.</strong><strong> The 2012 Challenge, being held on 5 August, will have eight different categories suited to all cyclists. The main event, a 100km ride, begins at the stunning Coffs Harbour Jetty before taking participants south to historic Bellingen and back. For those looking for a lesser challenge, there is a shorter 60km event, or even the 10km family fun ride along the newly refurbished Coffs Creek Cycleway.</strong></p>
<p>The 2011 Coffs Coast Cycle Challenge was nominated for the Community Event of the Year in the Coffs Harbour Australia Day Awards, and raised over $28,000 for charity. This event is being organised by the Rotary Club of Coffs Harbour City.</p>

Proceeds go towards vital community development projects, with last  year focussing on the development of a children&#8217;s home in Western Kenya where 120 AIDS orphans are housed and educated. 		<description><![CDATA[The Brisbane to Sydney Bridge to Bridge charity ride dates have been announced with 15 riders invited to make the 1000km journey.]]></description>
				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><b>The 2012 </b><b>Brisbane (Storey Bridge) to Sydney (Habour Bridge) Bridge to Bridge ride dates have been announced</b><b> with 15 cyclists invited to join the 1000km ride from April 28 to May 5. This is a charity ride with proceeds going to the Cure for Life Foundation (researching a cure for brain cancer).</p>
<p></b>The ride is fully supported and the planned route will follow the New England Highway with overnight stops at Warwick, Tenterfield, Glen Innes, Armidale, Tamworth, Scone, and Morisett. The cost is $1050 for twin share and $1470 for single and riders also commit to addition fundraising with proceeds going to the charity.</p>

				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><b>Carl F. will lead a group of four from Phillip Island to Wollongong raising money Port Kembla Palliative Unit. He made a promise to his father in law who died of cancer that he would organise a ride and with this ride he is raising money that will go to the Port Kembla Palliative Unit. This is a healthcare unit that relieves pain and suffering of it&#8217;s patients in care.</b></p>
<p>Using the Everyday Hero service, donations can be made which go to the Palliative Unit via the Illawarra Cancer Carers. </p>
<p>The four riders begin on October 20 with a lap of the Phillip Island Grand Prix track and with two support cars follow the coast up to Wollongong.</p>

This is a MTB adventure on back tracks, single tracks, along rivers, through forests and past beaching with riders camping out at night while enjoying the finer things in life such as local wineries and delicious food.</b></p>
<p>The Margaret River Cycle Trek in 2011 takes place from 16. to 24 October in 2011 and is a volunteer run event in which&nbsp; proceeds go to local environmental and sport organisations. Entry costs $1250 and there is a limit of 30 riders. </p>
