Rui Costa, Leader of 4 Days of Dunkerque

Rui Costa, second after the Time Trial is now the the new leader of the French race after he was again second on the 195.4 kilometer stage between Haezebrouck and Boscheppe. Costa is also leading the best young rider classification while the Team Caisse d’Epargne is leader in the teams classification.

"Before coming to take part in this race, I would never have thought that it was adapted to my characteristics and even less to have a possibility to win it. After having taken part in the Classics, I rested all the week and I arrived in France with excellent feelings, being really well."

"I understood that I had to take advantage of my good shape. After my result in the time trial yesterday, it was necessary to try something to go for the first place in the general classification. The stage of today, which was the hardest one, has been fast and with several attacks. All my team-mates of Caisse d?Epargne achieved a fabulous job during the day in order to allow me to be in front in the final. In the last hill, I counter-attacked with Fedrigo, the stage winner, behind David Lelay, who was the most dangerous in the classification"

"Thanks to my second place and the time bonuses, I am now 9 seconds ahead of Lelay. That should be sufficient for tomorrow but everybody knows, nothing is win before crossing the finishing line in Dunkerque."
