Campagnolo has put together a Dream Team composed of 11 Olympic and World Champions from different sports disciplines who will participate in the Maratona of the Dolomites. This event will bring together 11 top athletes who will become a true team, living and working together to train for and participate in the race. Anyone who purchases (or plans to purchase) Campagnolo 11 speed equitment or gear qualifies to train with the team for a weekend.
The team captain will be Antonio Rossi, world champion kayaker as well as the flag bearer for Italy in the 2008 Beijing Olympics. The team includes: Giulia Quintavalle, the first Italian woman to win an Olympic gold in judo; Rossano Galtarossa, gold medal in canoeing at the Sydney Olympics in 2000; Margherita Granbassi, gold medal at the World Fencing Championships in Turin 2006; three-time World SuperBike Champion Troy Bayliss; Cristian Zorzi, Olympic and World Champion in Nordic skiing; Juri Chechi, the "Lord of the Rings", five-time World Champion and Olympic gold medallist at the Atlanta Olympics in 1996; windsurf champion Alessandra Sensini, who won the gold medal at Sydney 2000; marathon runner Stefano Baldini, historic gold medal at the Athens Olympics 2004; fencing champion Aldo Montano, gold medallist at the Athens Olympics 2004; and skier Peter Runggaldier, winner of the World Cup in 1995 in the super-giant slalom.
