Robert Wagner (Skil – Shimano) held off Delta Tour Zeeland GC winner Tyler Farrar (Garmin-Slipstream) and Alessandro Petacchi (LPR Brakes-Farnese Vini) to win the final stage. Top finisher for Cerv?lo TestTeam was Martin Reimer in 10th place.
"Today’s a rainy day in Holland with 8 sections of cobble stones approximately 10 km all together, so the riders had to really stay focused on that," said Sports Director Jean-Paul Van Poppel. "We concentrated on the second cobble section which looked particularly bad and we gave full gas with a breakaway of four of our riders. Then Hayden Roulston crashed and we were left with 3 riders on that coble section, nothing happens and after awhile everything came back together. Then there is another attack, this time with Martin Reimer. In this break we had all the time people Roulston, Reimer, Gabriel Rasch and Jeremy Hunt. Everything came back together and we tried to make a break with a lead out in the last 2 km with Hayden Roulston, Between the last three km there was a perfect moment but right on that moment Hayden crashed again, although he wasn’t hurt.
"At the end there is a big bunch sprint with Martin Reimer ending up tenth. Jeremy Hunt remains our best GC rider in fifth place. The team did a great job today and we showed our strength once again, especially on the cobbles."
Overall winner for the prologue and 2 stage Delta Tour Zeeland was Tyler Farrar followed by Alessandro Petacchi 11 seconds later.
