Katusha’s Napolitano Takes Stage 1 in Luxembourg

Team Katusha’s Danilo Napolitano has won the first stage of the Tour de Luxembourg, Luxemb?urg-stad – Mondorf-les-Bains on 157 km’s. This is the sprinters fourth victory, and the 18th for the team. Astana’s Gregory Rast is still GC leader.

Danilo Napolitano: "It was a nervous and very fast stage. In the beginning Astana Team went fast for to catch the escapers, after there were a lot of break on the mountain grand prix. At the sprint my team-mates Horrach, Markov and Mikhailov lead me head and after I took Dell’Antonia wheel of the CSF-Navigare team. We started together in the last 200 metres. A little bit early because there was a wind in front".

Team Astana

Team Astana protected the race lead of Gregory Rast and the friendly Swiss rider stayed in yellow another day. Early attacks were put in but quickly brought back with Team Astana maintaining control of the front of the peloton.

Rast?s strong ride in the opening prologue still has him two-seconds ahead of Jonathan Hivert (Skil-Shimano) and four in front of Romain Feillu (Agritubel) and the full support of his team to keep him in yellow.  Teammates Assan Bazayev and Andreas Kl?den remain in the wings at 4th and 6th place with three stages left to race.
