Quick Step Signs Two New Riders

There are two new arrivals in Team Quick Step. They are Branislau Samoilau and Andrei Kunitski from Belarus.

The 24 year-old Samoilau is a rider cut out for stage races. He has two professional victories under his belt: the National Road Championships 2007 and the 5th stage in the Settimana Ciclistica Lombarda in 2008. Kunitski is 25 years old time trial specialist, a skill thats won him the last two National Time Trial Championships. He also has a stage-win in the 2008 Vuelta a Burgos on his palmares.

"These are two riders with good qualities" – explains team manager Patrick Lefevere – "and we’ve decided to invest in them. As of now both athletes are on the Team Quick Step roster and will be until 31 december 2010. Normally Samoilau will ride the first race with the Quick Step jersey in the Tour de Suisse in a few days, while Kunitski will participate in the next Ster ElektroToer.

"We’ve chosen these two athletes because we believe they can be important elements in completing the group of riders skilled in stage races that is showing promise and growth from one competition to the next."
