Lampre-NGC’s riders weren’t able to ride at the front of the peleton so the best result was Spilak’s 65th place at 9’03" to the winner Brice Feillu, who at the end of a long breakaway won the stage in which there was also Nocentini, the new yellow jersey.
After Spilak, Bruseghin reached the arrival (76?); then it was the turn of Loosli (91?) and then of a group of blu-fucsia athletes with Bandiera, Ballan, Righi, Sapa and Santambrogio. Last at the arrival was Furlan, but he was the rider who received the biggest support by the fans.
“It was not a good day for us – sport director Fabrizio Bontempi said – We didn’t join the breakaway and so our race ended there. Spilak pedalled in a good way in the main group until 4 km to go: his fit his good and he’s showing determination. We’re sorry for Bruseghin, who is suffering pains due to the consequences of the crashes. In the next stages we need to show the enthusiasm and the grind."
The best placed Lampre-NGC’s rider in the overall standing is now Spilak at 76th place.
