Team Barloworld continues with its busy race programme in August riding the Tre Valli Varesine, Coppa Agostoni and Coppa Bernocchi in Italy.
The triptych of one-day races is known as the Trittico Lombardo . The teams will be directed by Valerio Tebaldi and include the best Team Barloworld riders.
The Tre Valli Varesine is on Tuesday August 18 and the Team Barloworld line-up will consist of Felix Cardenas, Gianpaolo Cheula, Marco Corti, Chris Froome, Francesco Bellotti, Diego Caccia, Patrick Calcagni and Paolo Longoborghini.
Bellotti, Cheula, Corti and Froome will also ride the Coppa Agostoni the day after on Wednesday August 19. Also in the team are Daryl Impey, Carlo Scognamiglio and climbers Felix Cardenas and Mauricio Soler, who impressed in the recent Vuelta a Burgos, finishing fifth overall.
The Trittico Lombardo ends on Thursday August 20 with the Coppa Bernocchi, the flatter of the three races. Team Barloworld’s Steve Cummings won the 2008 edition of the race and the team is determined to take a second win. As well as Cummings, Tebaldi will have a mixed team of sprinters and rouleurs, who can work together if the race ends in a sprint. The Team Barloworld line-up includes South Africa’s Robert Hunter and also Michele Merlo and Patrick Calcagni. Completing the squad are Daryl Impey, Carlo Scognamiglio, Diego Caccia and Geraint Thomas.
