Haussler knocked out of Tour de Suisse after crash

Two days after his stage two victory, Haussler has been knocked out of the tour after a sprint finish crash. Heinrich Haussler (Cervélo TestTeam) and Mark Cavendish (Team HTC Columbia) were neck and neck sprinting  the final metres for the stage victory as Cavendish drifted across and leaned against Haussler and both feel with Tom Boonen (Team Quick Step)close behind riding over Haussler.

Gerard Ciolek (Team Milram) and Lloyd Mondory (Team AG2R La Mondiale) wer also brought down in the crash while Alessandro Petacchi took the stage victory and Tony Martin remained in yellow.

“Heinrich was taken to the hospital for an examination and stitches”, said Team Doctor Lorenz Emmert. “He has a deep wound on his right elbow and will need to rest for a few days now.”

“I didn’t see Cavendish coming,” said Heinrich Haussler. “He drove into my wheel and before I knew it, I went down and was lying on the ground. I could have won the stage today.”
