The popular Contour 1080p HD camera is soon available as a GPS version that maps your position, speed and altitude together with your recorded video. With this Video Mapping, you can simultaneously watch the GPS data as your video plays in the Contour software. The GPS data can also be shared online and compared with friends.
The camera comes with a 2 GB Micro SD card and can take up to 32 GB which equates to 8 hours HD video. In addition to 1920×1080 HD resolution at 30 frames per second (wide or tall) a lower resolution 1280×720 will take 60 frames per second to better capture fast action and a still photo mode can be set to capture images at intervals up to 60 seconds.
The 150 gram camera makes it ideal as a helmet mounted camera – though handlebar or front / rear wheel view is also popular – particularly with the superior video quality.
The Contour HD GPS camera is expected in Australia in early November 2010 and we look forward to reviewing – stay tuned.
