The Five and Three Dams Challenge is set in the Perth Hills in Western Australia and invites teams of two to race against the clock to complete the 235km circuit. With over 2000 metres of climbing, the teams need to complete the event in under 12 hours and ensure they reach each dam (checkpoint) in the allocated time.
The five dam challenge takes riders from Perth to the Mundaring Weir, Churchman Brook, Wungong Dam, Canning Dam and Serpentine Dam before they return to the city.
The 3 Dams challenge is a 146km option for teams who prefer to get a feel for the event and will take the riders over the Mundaring Weir, Canning Dam and Wungong Dam before they head down the hills into Perth.
Both rides begin and end in Perth CBD on Sunday 17th April 2011.
The race organiser is Bicycling Western Australia and you can find further event information and can register to ride online: www.bwa.org.au. Get in quick as places are limited and last year it sold out early.
