Baden Cooke and Matt Wilson sign with GreenEDGE

The new Aussie team, aiming for a UCI ProTeam license in 2012, has added Baden Cooke and Matt Wilson to the lineup. Cooke comes from Team Saxobank and Wilson from Garmin-Cerv?lo and the ‘best friends’ will now be united in a team where there is already some strong ties with other riders already announced for GreenEdge next year.

"Matt Wilson is my best friend, Simon Gerrans grew up just down the road, I’ve spent a lot of time on the road with Stuart O’Grady, everyone on the team is a friend and there won’t be another team in the peloton with such a close bond," says Cooke.

"The strength of this bond will be one of our advantages. The reason Australians are in such demand with European teams is our reputation for putting it on the line for the team. Now we get to do that for our mates on an Australian team."

Wilson adds, "This team is more than a team for me, it’s like a family."

Other recent signings for Team GreenEDGE since Aussie Simon Gerrans include Dutchman Jens Mouris (Vacansoleil-DMC), 25 year old Aussie, Simon Clark (Team Astana) and 34 year old Canadien cyclist, Svein Tuft (SpiderTech-C10).
