In conjunction with the State of Victoria, Australian Tour de France Winner, Cadel Evans has announced a 1 Day, UCI sanctioned international road race for February 1, 2015. This is perfect timing for international pro-cycling teams participating in the Tour Down Under in South Australia who can then take part in the ‘Spring Classic’ inspired event.
The event is titled, “Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race” and Evans says “Cycling has been good to me and I hope in some small way I’ve given something back too……maybe there’s now many more Aussies experiencing cycling and living a much healthier and fulfilling lifestyle than what there were previously.”
In additional to the Elite Mens race on Sunday February 1, the Elite Women’s race on Saturday January 31, there is also a ‘peoples race’ on the Saturday to allow everyone to participate.
The course is a loop which will start in Geelong, travel through Barwon Heads (the home town of Cadel Events), continue to Thirteenth Beach, Torquay, Bells Beach, and then return inland along rolling hills of Moriac and finishing on Geelong’s Waterfront.
The event is an ‘initiative’ of the Victorian State Government.
