About Victorian Institue of Sport

The VIS was set up to assist the development of Victoria’s best athletes. It was established in 1990 by the State Government as a private trustee company, with its Board of Directors appointed by the Victorian Minister for Sport.

VIS programs are conducted in partnership with National and State Sporting Associations.

Over 200 athletes from a wide range of sports receive VIS services through the VIS scholarship programs . Both able-bodied athletes and athletes with a disability have scholarships.

The VIS has close associations with sporting organisations, schools and universities, and private clinics and practitioners, ensuring that athletes receive optimal benefits.

The VIS cycling program comprises two structured sub-programs, Road Cycling and Track Cycling, and services an exciting group of world class athletes from junior through to Olympic and professional level.

For BMX, riders can apply for support via the individual athlete scholarship program.
