Geelong to Torquay

Hello.
Just wondering if anyone could offer any advice the best options to ride from Geelong to Torquay.
It is very straightforward in the car, but are there any areas I should avoid on the bike?

Horseshoe bend rd is the one you want to take.

I usually tend to take the route to Barwon Heads then straight to 13th beach, follow the foot path and left at horseshoe bend. I always find it more pleasant to go pass 13th beach.
