It's always fun to go to Buninyong and watch the Road Championships.
This year they are tacking on a Gran Fondo for the punters.
Doesn't seem terribly well publicised at the moment.

However, I'm not entirely sure how attractive/fun 7 laps of the course will be.

For $130/$150.

Anyone raced/rode/driven the course that may care to share their thoughts?

That is the same course as the National Masters two years ago. It is a fantastic course, it has everything, fast decent down Gelong Rd, technical tight bit down Fisken Rd, Climb, open flattish roads, wind...misterhorsey wrote:However, I'm not entirely sure how attractive/fun 7 laps of the course will be.

Flying down Fisken Road is one of the most fun things I have done on a bike, all be it a bit scary the first time in a big group.
Another aspect, making assumptions here, is that BV on behalf of CA organised it brilliantly. I assume that they would provide a similar experience for the Gran Fondo. The finishing run into Buninyong in particular was just like finishing a World Tour event.

Fast descents is just what you don't want when you are constantly catching up to and keep passing slower and/or less skilled riders on a relative short loop circuit.

That's the other thing. How messy and confusing would it get towards the end when slower riders get lapped? I note the higher age categories have less laps, but there will be many older riders faster than the less experienced younger riders.Alex Simmons/RST wrote:Fast descents is just what you don't want when you are constantly catching up to and keep passing slower and/or less skilled riders on a relative short loop circuit.
