Malvern Star Coronation "Elizabethan"

Hello from a "forum novice"

After almost 40 years of ownership, we are about to sell our "Coronation" bike, and I wouldn't mind knowing a little more about it before we do.
From web research, its a 3 star Coronation Elizabeth, with what seems to be original paint... but with (worn) "Speedwell" stickers, and white pin lines.
We've only ridden it locally, its a great lady's bike, and it is still in riding condition.

Frame number, from top of frame, under seat post:
8M 13084 , with an "A" underneath

Another number from the bottom of the frame is:
0777

Can anyone shed further light on what we have ?
....And, maybe the best place to advertise it ?
(We are on Sydney's Northern Beaches)

Hi davlynski,
welcome to the forum.
There are a few Coronation experts on here, (I'm not one of them though!), maybe the others are on holiday.
The M8 prefix in the frame number indicates a 1948 Melbourne build.
They are reasonably rare, especially so in unmolested condition. Hopefully you'll find a sympathetic new owner.
Have a squizz at this thread covering ClydesdaleScot's restoration of one.
It would be great to see some photos of yours too.

For 4 decades that bike been part of our family !

That renovation thread is great... makes me want to do it too, but living in a hilly area, we just aren't going to ride it much.
Tomorrow I'll try and learn how to post a photo or two (don't hold your breath!!)

I agree with Robert on the date. So in your photos can you give good clear shots of the head tube. I am curious to see if it is fillet brazed like mine or lugged as the later versions were.
You may find it easier to load up the photos on an online host and post the link to the album here.

Mine looks the same as yours, smooth joins to the frame, but I'll await your comment after seeing the photos.

Now I have to consider whether I sell, or refurbish
I just don't think we are going to use it much, so it would make sense for it to find a new home.

If I'm selling, would you have any thoughts as to what would be a sensible ask ?

build the rear wheel with a Sturmey Archer internally geared hub.
I have the same colour matched rim (matches the other rims) with a SA AW hub as an option for my New Look
