Llewellyn

Postby Lots of steel bikes » Tue Jan 30, 2018 10:57 pm

This is my Llewellyn. Columbus Max tubing, I bought it from a friend after he hit a pot hole that destroyed the fork. The replacement carbon fork doesn’t look too bad. Paint by Joe Cosgrove.

It's a shame about the front fork but on the flip-side, it's comforting to know that it was common to replace the front fork with one of those new fangled carbon jobbies back in the dim dark past. But you already knew that, that's why you were probably unfazed by taking it from your mate.

I bet you like the Columbus MAX frame and having the Liewellyn name on it only enhances the frame. Those Aussie colours definitely stand out but it looks like the colour scheme has the frogs confused.

Do I like it? YES I do.

I toyed with the idea of getting a Columbus Max fork made for it by Joe but I baulked at the cost. One day perhaps when I have a windfall.

It is a really nice frame and it certainly stands out from the crowd. The frogs are a nice touch. I know there is a story behind the Llewellyn frogs but my memory is failing me.

Yes, the frogs are a nice touch. I think I have one of those 'memories' too, haha.

The drop on those bars looks massive, but I'm hoping it's just the angle of the photo 8)

The top tube is too long for me. Even with the short stem I need to roll the bars upward to get comfortable hence the angle of the drops. I need to look for some short reach bars.

Its not the angle of the drops, its just that they look like they drop half a wheel! The older ano drops look huge in comparison to current thinking.
