Vuelta 2016

Some interesting results in TTT meaning that leaders on teams like Tinkoff & AG2R are going to have to do a bit of chasing.
Hope Chaves does well again

the 30% bit is on the inside of corners, so no really uiseable (makes a comment about going slow enough to get out a theodolite !!), but also co,mments that if tyou take out the flattish section at the end, the average gradient is actually closer to 17%
After doing the Muro di Sormano near Lake Como recently, that little bit os only 1.8km with an average of 17% and max in the 20's, it required several stops along the way

Contador losing a bit more time last night means even more flair required to gain that back.
Great to see (well read anyway) that Chaves still doing well. Looking fwd to the highlights tonight

Yates & Chaves still in there. Seems to be a race to keep in rather than make the big moves.

Bit sad really, but I suppose that's the way it is.
Be interesting to see if NQ stays healthy & upright and what Piti ends up doing.
Seems like the podium steps that are left are being duked out by Froome, Piti & Chaves.

Haven't stayed up for a full stage yet though - maybe week 3.

Anyway.
Bugger to see Simon Clark out after some great rides. Didn't see the stack involving Quintana, but luck on his side ?
Be interesting to see what damage Stage 14 does, or will it be a snooze fest till the last climb ?

So you are not really a cycling fan then.MichaelB wrote:Don't have and will probably never have Eurosport - I want just one channel (happy to pay for that only), not the 65 others that come with it.
But no problem - use a VPN and subcribe to Eurosport UK. This will give you all the grand tours, classics and a plethora of other races you never even heard of. Watch on your computer or intenet tv set.
Create an account on UK iTunes, get the Eurosport Player and you can watch on your iPad.
The week before the Vuelta started we were watching the Arctic Tour of Norway. If you think the three grand tours have stunning scenery, wait until you see this event.
And you get to escape the monotonous Liggert , Sherwin and Mathew Keenan commentary and endure instead the even more monotonous Sean Kelly and the hysterical Carlton Kirby. But at least you do get Maggie Backstedt sometimes.

Too much faffing about for a non-computer person.RonK wrote: So you are not really a cycling fan then.

Generally happy enough with what SBS offers, and have family too.
Great effort by Chaves, shows he's still in there.
Yates hanging in there too !!

They are tough markers at cyclingnews, describing Chaves ride as damage limitation - I would have thought taking 30 seconds from Quintana and Froome was a bit better than that. Nice to see good tactics from OGE, to put Yates away, clawing back more than a minute to have him sitting pretty in 4th, just 16s back from Chaves.cyclingnews wrote:Chaves put in a dig of his own with five kilometres to go, and Contador went clear with a promising attack of his own, but paid for his efforts as he was swiftly dropped. His race became an exercise in damage limitation – the same for Chaves – as Quintana repeatedly looked to shake Froome from his wheel

Last night was exciting too.
Certainly more interesting than the tour, some great racing going on.

No mention of Vroome, Vroome.find_bruce wrote:Great riding by Quintana in what looks to be the winning move with a lead of 3:37. Rest of the podium is tight with Chaves just 20 s off Froome & Clembutador another 5 s back

Makes the next few stages interesting. Hard to see NQ losing this, but the fight for the minor placings will be great

His past performances against Froome in the ITT are not very convincing.
According to CQ Rankings, his performance against Froome in the ITT are not very convincing.
Sky was soundly beaten tactically last night, it was not as if Froome blew up.
And there are still several hard stages with mountain top finishes before the ITT.
