The German ZIV (bike industry organisation) has created a benchmark for ebike range from factors including battery, motor and drive stystem and tyres. Also the different modes typically available (normal, sport, boost) are also reflected. The big motor brands like Bosch, Shimano, Accell and Velotech are supporting this move. Enables bike shops and customers a more reliable format for comparing, but the benchmark still needs to be accepted by the market.

This is a great idea. It will enable people to make proper judgements, and should encourage manufacturers (both motor and frame) to innovate to get better range.

I just hope it's a bit more "real world" representative than vehicle mileage claims. Some of those are waaaay off in real world driving.
When you are driving your car, you are not stuck IN traffic - you ARE the traffic!!!
