A little off topic but I need some new bib shorts, what did you buy?

What GST free threshold removal effect?

My latest order from Wiggle arrived without any indication that GST was charged either on the web page or on the invoice. It wouldn't have changed a thing anyway - Wiggle's price was just over half the local price.

Nor on my latest order of tyres from R2 Bike in Germany.

done a few ebay purchases,

GST was added, I get 2 items in my paypal and 2 items on my bank statement (one for the product the other for gst).

wonder what happens if seller decides to refund a faulty product.

As the paypal is in Aussie $, this question doesn't apply here but could apply were the currency is $AU

If you end up with 2 transactions on your card for a purchase not in AU currency, one for the purchase and one for GST does;
1. The GST have to be applied in $AU?
2. Will the bank charge 2 overseas transaction fees?

I just checked this out, and Wiggle's website adds the GST to the prices before you buy. Which is good as there are no surprises at the checkout as with some other places. Merlin for example displays all of it's prices sans GST, but then adds it on at the checkout.

Different vendors doing different things in this regard may make it harder to do online price comparisons.

Just to be clear, Wiggle definitely adds the GST, however they do so right up front so that it is already embedded in the prices that you see when browsing. See image below, and note that the final price was just the sum of the advertised prices of the items I added to the basket - the GST was included in that price rather than adding to the total.

So people over on Whirlpool forum are saying that if the site isn't registered for gst and your purchase is under $1k then no GST is payable at any point in the process. Now to find an overseas site that hasn't registered for gst

From the SMH: https://www.smh.com.au/politics/federal ... 4zqbw.html
As of 10 July, 721 offshore businesses registered for low value imported goods.
Yes, that is 721 off shore business in the world who are charging GST. That is an awful lot of businesses who are not playing Scott Morrison's game.

Just looking at some stuff for sale on eBay. And I’ve noticed that eBay is slapping import duty on overseas purchases. The duty amount seems random and for the life of me I can’t understand why there is a charge on second hand goods. Sounds like more eBay money scamming to me.
