What thread is on a disc brake post mount

Found the thread on my new mtb post mounts (frame) are a bit rough and want to run a tap through them. I'm assuming it is a standard M6 tap? Can't seem to find this info on the net. Managed to chew up one of my bolts a little getting it in.

M6x1mm - quite standard.
I had a thought, but it got run over as it crossed my mind.
