This Saturday, the 15th of September, a team of 24 cyclists will begin riding for 28 days covering an average of over 150 kilometres a day from Perth, Western Australia to Newcastle, New South Wales
Ride for Compassion Coast to Coast will cover more than 4,300 kilometres, beginning in Perth and heading across the barren inland to the east coast city of Newcastle.
Money raised will help the most vulnerable children living in extreme poverty through Compassion’s Highly Vulnerable Children’s Fund. These include children whose parents who have left, died, or are unable to provide for them, children exposed to exploitation and children with special needs. They often find themselves on the edge of extremely dangerous situations like child labour, gang violence, trafficking, and life on the street.
So far over $290,000 has been raised through the ride. Ride for Compassion Coast to Coast will finish at Compassion Australia’s head office in Newcastle on Tuesday the 16th of October.
