I have been wanting to do the 100k ride since i started cycling in December 09.
I tried once before and got to 85K.
This morning I got up and managed to finally crack the 100k mark riding solo. I was just tring to enjoy the ride. i figured I was just going out for a nice 4 hour ride. Legs were killing towards the end.
Average was ok i suppose at 23ks.
Next time I hope to do it in a group - which reminds me I must join a club.
Cheers
Wayne

Well done Wayne! It is one of the most staisfying mile stones to achieve. COngrats
I would encourage you to join a club if you want to ride with a group, learn and be strengthenned in your riding. That soesn't mean having to race or anything...just the benefit of riding with a group that will stretch you.

LOL i read the title and thought "holy cr*p" 100K, thinking someone had clocked up 100,000 k's, even more stunned when I read you started Dec 09.
Well done on the 100K ride, I suppose I'll do one one day. Was it 2 hours down the road and back or you did you do the meandering all over the place type ride?

I started in Crestmead Brisbane and travelled out to Cleveland which was 50ks and turned around and come back. I feel to do a trip like that you need a pre-defined route.
Keep training and you will make the 100k trip. I found it was my head that was telling me I could not do it. It is just as much in your head as it is riding a bike. Only advise i could give which was given to me on this forum is don't concentrate on the distance or ks while you are on the ride.
Cheers

Well done Wayne, solo for your first one is a good effort if I do say so myself
Just wait till you do another 100 in a bunch and you will be even more proud of yourself for cracking it alone first. Between the drafting and company/motivation theres a big difference I think.
cheers

Well done! It's a fantastic goal to achieve, what is your next goal? 160km?
I'll be heading down the the Bris to GC, chalk up another 100km for me (that'll be 3 then!!)
Keep pedaling.
Cheers
Mick
