Hello Brisbane! This is a mass bike ride that will travel through the CBD on Sunday 13 September. The aim of the ride is to gather as many cyclists as possible and make a statement about how important sustainable transport is for Brisbane's future in becoming a sustainable city. It's a great chance to celebrate the bicycle as transport, and also a chance to motivate others around you to jump on a bike too!

To make an impact we need to invite as many people as possible, please click "join" then click "invite" and go through your Friend List and invite as many people as possible. We hope to get 10,000 invited so that 1000 come.

Ride details

Gathering point: Kurilpa Point Park (next to GoMA at the Southern End of the Kurilpa Bridge).

Time: 11:00am gathering for a 12:00pm (sharp) departure

Route: see map which will uploaded next week

Ride end: 1:00/1:30pm at Kurilpa Point Park for a celebration

Celebration: 1:00pm - 5:00pm with food, DJs, and speakers all with river, bridge, and city views.

Things to remember:
*Make sure your bike is in good working order.
*There'll be a bike mechanic set up to help check over your bike if you're worried from 10:00am at the park.
*You still have to wear your helmet, there’ll be police with us.
*It’s really important you stick to the route, we will escorted by police motorbikes who will hold up the intersections for us to all pass through as one group.
*If you have a problem with your bike, we’re really sorry but we can’t wait for you. Please move to the footpath with your bike and deal with it there - why it’s important that your bike works :)
*No dogs unless they can fit in your basket or backpack
*St John Ambulance bike squad will be on the ride
*Bring: water, sunscreen, a hat for after the ride, a picnic blanket for after the ride.
*Bring your go-pro film the ride and send us the footage to create an awesome film about it
*Be mindful of the bollards as we enter and leave the bridges; and as we ride through South Bank.

Transport to the meeting place

Bicycle:
There are some great off-road bicycle paths that lead directly to Kurilpa Point Park (Riverside Drive, Bicentennial Bikeway, South Bank etc).

We obviously recommend you to ride from home, if you’re worried about riding on the road you can post on the event wall and ask if anyone else is riding in from your suburb and you can ride together. Power in numbers!

Train:
You can bring your bike on the train at any time on a Sunday for no additional cost to the regular fare. Please note there will be track work on that day between Park Road and Varsity Lakes, so buses will be running this service. Please allow extra travel time - we are still waiting to hear if bikes can go on these buses.

Bus: Unless you have a fold up bicycle you can’t take the normal Brisbane buses ☹

Car: There’s a paid car park under SLQ, QAG, QM for about $15 per day.
