Looks like a series of very exciting events at the Capital Winter Sports Fest on 27th and 28th August.
1. Capital Mountain Bike 10k Time Trial
2. Capital run 10k
3. Duathlon - 5K run/30K bike /2.5K run
4. Capital Cycling - 50km Road Race

I might do the Duathlon this time, considering I did the 10k run on the summer version of the sports fest.

Sounds awesome. I am tossing up between the road race and the duathlon. DId a 16km run around Mt Ainslie and up Mt Majura yesterday and felt good. School organised race and I defended my title from last year. Still got some pace with little muscle fitness.

Yeah. The race was part of our school walkathon which our p&c organised. Walkathon is 12kms. The guy who beat me in the senior x-country was 3rd behind our school champion triathlete staff member (world biathlon champ). A good hilly climb which suits my strengths.
Unfortunately, though, as I found out at the Aust Championship Duathlon in Canberra 2 years ago, triathlons and duathlons dont have hills.

I'm in for the Duathlon. I was surprised at the distances as the long ones are usually 10k/40k/5k. It will be a fast race that would probably justify racing flats and cage pedals.

Cheers Eric - I'll report back.
I've spent the day getting the bike into the box and walking around in circles hoping I've not forgotten anything. Fly out tomorrow at 7:30am and arrive to 27 degrees!

Had to leave Cairns yesterday having spent the week there - 27 degrees and blue skies all week. Saw the set up for the tri at the waterside - looked great and some nice kit on show.bpmhigh wrote:Cheers Eric - I'll report back.

Ended up signing up the 50km road race. it all comes down to cheaper entry fee than the duathlon.
Having missed the Summer version, hope this will be a fun one.

I'm doing the road race as well, online entries close at 11:45pm tonight so anyone thinking about entering should do it today (otherwise it's $44 instead of $27.50). I like the idea of racing without any significant hills
