Hi locals,
Was on a ride today and had an ugly incident at the end of my ride. Got number plate and car details. What is the normal process for reporting it and is it worthwhile? I've found it's pretty much useless in sydney as the police generally swing it back against the cyclist, is it ant different in the capital?
Clocked up many kms here in Canberra and never had an issue. Hopefully it's a one off.
Cheers
SB

Report it and help build a profile of this behaviour if nothing else.

I've reported a couple of incidents using the links from the traffic intelligence page of the AFP website. Didn't get any satisfaction from either incident, my word vs theirs I guess, but it can't hurt to log the details in case the driver is a regular offender. One incident was on the motorbike when a car tried to knock me off multiple times, only time I've ever felt like someone actually wanted to kill me (managed to get away unscathed, thank you 1000cc sportsbike!) , other incident was a ridiculously close pass by a truck that I am certain was deliberate. As far as I know neither driver was charged or even spoken to, I chased up the first incident with multiple phone calls but was ultimately brushed off, and I never heard anything back from them after the second incident.
I say report it, but don't expect anything much to happen unless you have independent witnesses or video evidence.

Go ot the cop shop (I've heard Woden one is good) and report the details and get them to give you a case number. I reckon you should share the details of the vehicle on this forum too so we know to look out for this vehicle (may want to check with Chris if this is ok first).
Incident wasn't out on Old Federal Highway was it? There is a known serial offender out there that has allegedly confronted one group of cyclists with a machete.
