Silly Tapatalk doesn't show sigs but visiting the forum page it appears your progress bar is spilling it's guts . I'll fix that tonight. Well done riding with injury. I hate niggles on the bike so tend to manage them badly.sblack wrote: ..

I did the Slog 150 (actual 147.9) yesterday and managed it in around 5 1/4hrs, for an average of 28.3kph. I took the Defy (wet weather / work bike) and along the way had an interesting puncture that I reckon may have been there when I last rode this bike on Tuesday - slowly - up Arthur's Seat. Prior to yesterday's ride, I went over the bike, cleaned / lubed and checked tyre pressures, etc, pumping them up to my desired pressures. I did note that the rear tyre was down to around 80psi, but thought nothing of it in particular.......
Yesterday, I took off and jumped in with a bunch rolling turns at around 30-35Kph on the flats and around 50Km in, naturally, just as we hit the first of the ascents, I struggled to keep up, then fell away. I was having a good crack, but it seemed as though I was simply pedalling squares. The bunch dropped me and I kept going for a bit - still struggling. After another 10Km or so, I happened to look down at the rear tyre - more in a state of dejection than anything else - and saw it was running very low. I jumped off and spun it around to see a very slow leak bubbling up through the wet tyre surface. After changing the tube and removing the shard of steel from the inside of the tyre, I set off again and then realised that I was rolling as I ought to have been - which was a heap quicker than before I remedied the puncture.
It was a wet, windy and terrible day for the ride, but plenty turned out and after the ride ended (I rolled for around 80Km solo), I was fairly happy that I was able to get it done in a reasonable time in those conditions and with a bugger of a puncture along the way.
Rest day today!
Cheers and keep up the good work all.

The time to be gained would also include "recovery time", most notably the time taken by performing an exit stage left, with forward roll in the pike position, clambering back up the hill to the bike, straighten the seat and resume There were a couple of other rapid dismounts but that was the most spectacular. I did have a GoPro mounted on my chest but the footage was disappointing - a close up of the leaf litter, followed by a panoramic contemplation of the tree canopy to the soundtrack of me laughing.
I can only conclude that I must be well versed in the art of falling over - well it is either that or something about drunks & fools

I suspect they did more to slow the recovery process than the doctor expected. CT Scan showed no cause for concern, everything is properly aligned and it's now time to start some physio to get the movement back. From my point of view progress may be slow but it's still progress and the impact of the injury on my life has really been minimal so I'm still happy with how it's going.singlespeedscott wrote:All the micro shocks from the tour probably didn't do it much chop.

I haven't ridden since the Gong ride, and surprisingly I am now 6kgs lighter
And my wallet is about to get lighter as I am ordering a new bike tomorrow.

Speaking of weight, I was worried about how heavy a fat bike was - turns out about 4.5kg less than an Aldi premium MTB

I have, for a few weeks, been taking the train a hell of a lot with a niggling injury, yet to be diagnosed with any certainty.
atm it is feeling not quite perfect but not too bad either. So, finally, I'm biting the bullet. 8,000 is the new target.
While the bar is showing that I am now behind target, I've only got to ride at 2/3 of the rate so far his year so it is still not a big ask. Just gotta watch out for the foot and be prepared to cut back.
The bar looks normal again - lotsa green.

Well I made my target today, not bad with still about a month of riding to work to go, might even beat last year when I did about 7,200. Pretty happy to have made it in November
