Hi there,
Depending on weather I'm planning on riding from Ballarat to Bendigo in 2 Saturday's time. Given that I'll be riding a roadie I'm not going to be able to follow the goldfields track (Or at least is looks that way from what I've read) and would rather stick to sealed roads.
The route on google maps looks okay using the route below
https://www.google.com.au/maps/dir/Bend ... 636495!3e1
Wondering if anyone has done this ride before or whether anyone had any recommendations about doing it?
thanks

Here's a ride I did with a friend last year:
Day 1: https://www.strava.com/activities/432251301
Day 2: https://www.strava.com/activities/432859618
Was a pretty easy trip, but there really isn't much in the way of services on the route we took. On day 1, we got a drink at Campbelltown (township consisting of one pub, which is more like someone's living room) and a bite in Newstead.
One part of the route we took to avoid is here: https://www.google.com.au/maps/place/Mc ... 43.8758166
R Charlesons Rd is *not* suitable for roadies - it was barely OK on my CX bike. This one does appear on the route you have.
Maldon was great as a stopover town. There is free camping at the base of Mt Tarrengower, which has flushing toilets and running water available. We had dinner at a pub in town - very yummy food.

Thanks for the suggestions Nezumi! Will re-jig my route later this week to avoid R Charlesons Rd.
Will post an update after the ride also!
Cheers.
