Turns out there's a Fly12 giveaway on BNA so timely extra use for it.
It was a highlight ride for me early on with the Mukluk Ti and Velo Orange Casey's Crazy Bars just fitted, this guy ran with me for a bit on the out and return laps, gave me some great audio clips summing up the joy of the ride. I've raced dogs (learnt not to do that) so this is my only career win, it's really effort to keep up with a jogger, this was max effort to pull any metres on him into a morning headwind.

The 45T rear the main appeal difference to 42T 11sp that I noticed, and the gold bling
Fatbike World group is much more interesting as someone in Asia is usually doing something wild, the numbers turning out in their photos make us look irrelevant.

Out of 4 fat bikes I'm caught between seasonal change and only have my 29x3 plus bike ready to roll! Working on changing it in next 2 hrs...

Bumping this to ask what if you have any thoughts, expereinces, recommendations on the route. How did you find the Coast Walk from Kiama to Gerringong on the fat bike ?Mugglechops wrote:Pretty much that and the fact that it opens up extra areas to ride. I have done the The Thirroul to Gerringong ride a number of times on the road and bike paths. Last Sunday gave me the chance to the ride from a different perspective on the beach.trailgumby wrote: Is it just because you can?
It does make the ride take a hell of a lot longer though. I rode from Nowra to Thirroul then back to Kiama last year on my SS and it took me 9.5hrs to do 167kms. Thirroul to Shoalhaven Heads on almost every beach took 7.5hrs for 89kms.

It's probably the best of all my bikes to do it on. It's mainly grass and rough.avolve wrote:Bumping this to ask what if you have any thoughts, expereinces, recommendations on the route. New to this forum, but riding a Muru overlander and based in Fairy Meadow, I'd be keen to join any fat bike frolicking in the Illawarra

a few days ago i was going to go 27.5+ but the one i want isn't in stock. or i can still go 29er, but i feel a fat bike now would be good for future investment (fatbike touring), and beach/gravel/maybe snow riding. it also seems more forgiving on downhill so maybe that's better to start with.

Looks like good value for money, if anyone has this bike or test rode
Can you please provide feedback, I asked for more photos from
Company but to no avail. I would like to know frame/ tyre clearance.
Cheers

Bought it new here in Perth six months ago. For sale on gumtree.
I got tempted by a Scott MTB with Bosch drive. I wanted front suspension and ability to do steeper trails in the Perth hills.
A fat bike is extremely stable with heaps of grip and will go through deep sand and boggy areas where a MTB won’t.
More friction from the tyres but overall I have a very favourable opinion of these bikes even though I a selling it

The trend is bridging the gap with fatbikes especially with electric motors so 35mm rims. My rims are 23mm and I run a dual ply DHF minion 27.5 x 2.5 on the front.
Of course nothing does sand like a Fatbike. I got a lot of comments when I had it. I wanted front suspension though. Im now running tubeless with sealant.
The Muru frame sounds interesting, tell me more!
I am 60 years old so electric bikes enable me to do trails and go further and do more things.

Nothing to see yet I'm afraid.. still just a frame.baabaa wrote:So, you have had plenty of time now, do show the end result pics.Comedian wrote:My muru frame has arrived.. building it over the next few months.

Fork is coming (should be here soon), and the groupset is apparently 6-8 weeks away. I believe the hubs are at the shop though, as are the rims.
