Sydney bike library - would be a great resource to be able to hire one. This type of activity could work well with the Men's Shed concept. Keep and maintain a small fleet of bikes for hire and increase multi generational community contact. I'll add this to the list of potential retirement options/activities.
Aus motorists are safe to kill a cyclist at any time & confident that they will be protected from any serious penalties.

So its been too long since I posted a photo, and after a late night at work I have just discovered that I don't actually know how to do it anymore
I look forward to joining the discussion when I sort this out in the morning after a good night sleep

he was very cute, but there was only 1 & not a heavy load so plenty of opportunities for something different.RobertL wrote:Awwww!

So this is what I’ve got: Yuba Mundo longtail,
And this is what I often carry: dog, shopping, wife!
In this instance we are just leaving a local community garden, having been to the farmers market to buy the fruit, veg and bread for the week
Hopefully I’ve successfully posted a photo this time!

Before I got the Yuba Mundo longtail (that I eventually managed to post a photo of above ), my main way of carrying larger loads was a Bob Trailer on the back of my MTB. Its still an option I have but doesn't get used much these days:

I built it for myself. Used to do a round trip to Subi Markets each week till it closed. It sat idle, saw a bloke collecting cans so gave it to him via Bitsa Bikes.Pax wrote:So was this built for Bits a Bikes and passed on to someone or does it have another story?twowheels wrote:https://m.facebook.com/BitsaBikesWA/pho ... e_internal

I'll come back to this threa as i've builtt three trailers protypes in the past and didn't have phots to link too. currently searching the photo archives.
They were a design based on a brochure for a trailer built by Jack London, Uk around 1900 and basically a flat bed single tyre. Mostly carried local pre-school kids on local rides, although when a wire cage was added it could double as a crate for the weekly grocery shopping. Back to lookng for photos.
Slightly related and unfortuately also off line was some cost calculations for the power plant for a e-trike cargo bicycle to carry one tonne. AIRI, the lead acid version was going to cost <$50,000 and weigh 250kg and the Li-one version was going to costs ~$350, 000 and weigh 150kg. costig about a decade ago. NB. battery size for a long life.
