Noojee - Kevington via Toorongo: road conditions and route advice?

Postby stevebennett » Wed Dec 07, 2022 9:27 pm

Next week I'm planning to cycle from Warragul to a campsite near Kevington, via Noojee and Toorongo. I've never been to Toorongo and don't know anything about the road(s).

It looks like there are two routes:

1) Noojee - Tanjil Bren then via the Toorongo Link Rd to Toorongo Rd.
2) North on the Loch Valley Rd then to join Toorongo Rd a bit earlier than option 1.

For once, I'm trying to minimise the adventurousness of the route :)

Can anyone give me any idea what those roads are like? I'm ok with a few hills obviously, but I'd probably go for more asphalt rather than less. I'm sure my well-beaten cyclocross with 48mm/38mm tyres can handle whatever the road is, but I've got a lot of k's to travel, and I'm not super fit currently, so not wanting to overextend.

(I'm expecting to stealth camp somewhere along this route, I don't think I can do 140 odd km of that kind of terrain in one day).

How did you go ?

I've ridden through Woods Point in both directions but not from the Gippsland end. My trips were both to/from Warburton<>Jamieson.
