so the training will be on an undulating course to simulate to races and designed to build up to a 1hour TT. Thus training on Elderslie starting with 20 mins hard, 5 rcovery , turn around for 20 mins hard back.......then slowly build on top of that, ie 20x2
2ox2
25x2
25x2
30x2
30x2
35x2
35x2
40x2
40x2
1hour
1hour
1hour
oh and the matatory hill sprtint up Berridale Rd hill from the Bike Track to Allunga Rd when riding past each way

I now have 3 weeks off work to train. With redundancy comes training and a new bike. I am aiming for morning bike or trainer session. Afternoon gym session, hip flexor, and squats, and core work.

I prefer to train on Elderslie RD as it is long, quiet, flatish any easy to get to. But i will get sick of it and will need to mix it up

Are you going to do the TT in June Barry? Hopefully we get a still day. The Richmond course can be very fast! Even on a similar day to Seven Mile it's still faster.

we could leave earlier, esp for summer but it is just too cold in the morning.
It takes about 50mins to an hour to get the road near brighton.
The beauty of TT training is that you race against the clock, so 20 mins one direction, 5 mins recovery free spinning then turn around at try to get back to the start within 20mins.....its like a handicap

mcdurdin wrote:Gotcha on TT -- didn't click that was what you'd be doing. Am planning on doing the Winter Challenge with some blokes from work so some training would probably be a good idea... Weekday evenings also work for me but the brr factor kicks in here as well.
This wil be perfect for you. Due to work and the weather i can only do on the bikr training on the weekends. Please come and join in. i will send you my number. Did you do the winter challenge last year? what was your time?

Any time you have a bicycle between your legs. There is additional training benefit if the bicycle is moving forward.Cam wrote:Define training?.....
Confucius gave two training tips:-
"Miles in the legs are like money in the bank....you cant spend it if you have not saved it". (He did not know about plastic cards, or performance enhancing drugs)
"He who speeds down hill does not appreciate the gravity of the situation".

Saturday - only made it the Granton, head ache, dizzy and then it rained.
Sunday -Training achieved - i was hurting on the way home as i only packed 1 goo and 2 drinks. I had a week off all training and 2 weeks off the bike, and a total of 82kms, 23 at top TT speed.
So 9am this saturday, but undecided for sunday as a might do the STVCC 20TT, i am not feeling very fit/fast ATM
