Fairly well run event
especially since it's the inaugural. Huge effort and volunteers, and good MC / interviews for the winners of the timed "not a race".
Not a huge turn-out. Two or three hundred i think ? Only 3 riders lined up for the 130km +40kph speed... but there was quite a bit of racing all day. Rain too, and some of the local drivers kindof didn't give any courtesies, but traffic control was pretty well done that i saw.
Lovely venue in the bay-side park. Hopefully will get better turn up next year.
Good on yer for being part of it...
Maryborough region has a long connection with cycling sport and not that long ago bike riding was a popular means of transport there. (Not many hills, etc)
Past champions and one current international rider are from this region.
Some friends of mine were thinking about giving it a go, but in the end were deterred by the prospect of a long drive home (to the Gold Coast) in the inevitable heavy Sunday arvo traffic.
Hope it happens again...
