Tonight sees a double ascent of Blockhaus, so a real GC day with 198km and over 5,000m of climbing on the menu.
It’ll be a real test for Yates after suffering a knee injury from the crash on Stage 4, so we’ll see if he’s OK or drops out of the GC race
Who else will and what will the tactics be ????

The most interesting "Eurovision song contest" telecast went overtime and the recording consequently finished before the end of the stage

Quickly zipped through the last 25km (all that was telecast), will watch again tomorrow a bit closer.
Yates lost plenty of time, so maybe knee was still an issue, still to work out overall GC impact.
Little Pozzo even made it 6th on the stage !!

On a separate note, the disc naysayers (Kelderman) tried to blame his Blockhaus loss on the fact that his disc breaks caused his spoke to break (now withdrawn today after Specialized debunked it as well) - https://www.cyclingnews.com/news/kelder ... o-ditalia/
The funniest bits are the doofus comments that agreed with Kelderman and one poster even started mentioning HAZ (Heat Affected Zones) and that's caused by the heat from the discs. I've never read such uninformed BS in my life. I did have a good laugh though.
Anyway, the last 15km was a great stage (will watch it better later tonight) and just quickly zipped through it tonight.
Tonight's stage will be a snooze fest except for the last 5 min

Brilliant finish and it looked like MVdP would pass Girmay but when he realised he couldn't he sat down and gave him the thumbs-up. Respect.

100% agree. Thought he was going to get him, but just couldn't.
Makes a change for the handlebar banging, blaming and pulling sad face.

Apparently the #1 silly season injury according to an Ambo I was listening to a while back. Haven’t checked the data myself so take this with the appropriate qty of salt

But the good thing is that given the injury, it's the right thing to do.
He's had a corker (sorry ) of a season so far, so deserves a rest !!

Indeed. Roglic has shown this level of maturity as well when Pogacar beat at the TdF TT.
Can only be a good thing for all to learn from

But we had Jai of BORA with a strong win and it is not easy to predict the stage winners.

On the spokes and discs, thats just unusual.

And meanwhile, Alpecin Fenix show that there are others in the team that can wind stages with Oldani winning a 3 up sprint from the break.

Break almost made it last night, but pipped just before the line.
Tonight’s stage is a lumpy one with some hard but shorter climbs. Be interesting to see what happens !!

Great and wilt win for Yates, a great team effort from Bora and 2nd on stage for Jai Hindley, and also a great ride by Pozzo !!! Most GC guys were isolated with 60km to go !?!?
A few more retirements with Tom D out with back pain.
Now with Carapaz in Pink despite another doomed attack (got a great gap of almost 40 sec but couldn’t hold them off, again …), the GC/Climbing stages will be interesting with the tactics from other teams.
