^^doesn't matter. Listening to your body and enjoyment is more important.
Very true - I tend to get caught up just focussing on the kilometre count and forget about what my body's saying, or whether I'm actually enjoying it haha.

Cycling is a mental release for me though, really helps with my state of mind, anxiety, mood, etc. I find I definitely feel the impact from a mental perspective if I go too many days without a meaningful ride.

Anyway, I've just popped some gravel tyres on my Paralane, so that should keep things interesting.

Though, there's not a lot of gravel on offer around here, unfortunately.

It took me a long time to work it out  but ditto for me. Mental health, in the form of stress relief and more positivity, is my primary reason for cycling. A co-worker who functions well and takes anti-depressants made the point that cycling is my anti-depressant. He is correct I believe.

Some new routes and less traffic. Enjoy. :)
More may pop up once you get into it perhaps.

Not a target. Will be lucky if I scrape to 1000km for December as I plan on taking it easy for a few weeks.

This is where your 1000km per month consistency is amazing.

Love your work mate! I hit 14k today too. :) A piddly amount of elevation compared to you though.

14,021.7km
120,225m

Have really wound it back this month. I did a century on 30 November, and my longest ride since then has been 60km. Most of them are just 50km though. Don't think the Festive 500 will be a goer, somehow haha.

Yeah, I vaguely recall you mentioning that once before - it's just not as enjoyable to you any more to go on those longer rides, or something along those lines?

I can definitely respect that.

I can enjoy a ride just as much with less distance

14745km
132359m of up.
Nearly all of it solo. Haven't been doing bunchies which is a big change for me. Getting too old (55 at the end of the year) 22 years of shift work and I don't like mornings.
Have quite enjoyed it tbh. Cycling is my approximation of meditation and destressing. Fine to be doing that by myself.
I'll scratch out my 15k goal but will either not have one next year or it will be less. Cycling has been great but I have had other stuff on and have spent time doing it when I should have been doing other tasks.
Anyway onward and upward. :)

13,509km and 194,930m elevation now. 260 KOMs for a total of 513.

Debating whether to push for the 14,000km. Probably 130km left this week, so that's calling for 370km on gravel on holidays up the coast next week. Might be a step too far in this weather!

Might not be too popular with your family either whilst on hols. Discretion may be the better part of valour. :)
I'd be in trouble I reckon, anyway.

Impressive number of koms :o

crazy how close we are in distance and elevation. from memory i've earned zero KOMs this year
you would have taken a lot less time on the bike than me for those numbers

Yes, I've noticed that as well!

Average speed overall for the year was 27.91km/hr to give you an idea. That's a few km/hr down on previous because I started gravel this year.

25.7km/h for me. zwift helps with the average speed, otherwise it would be closer to 24 (about 4000kms on zwift this year)

Indoors is certainly faster. I average over 30km/hr on Fulgaz, about 28km/hr on the road bike (depending on elevation) and about 24km/hr on the gravel bike.

Previous year's averages were at just under 30km/hr - 3500km on the gravel bike this year killed it. Way more fun though!

28.7 kmh for me with gravel, road and plastic. Less climbing.
513 hrs so about 10h per week.
That's a reasonable time allocation.
I may try to keep that time up as I get older and slower
