And force dog walkers to use it on dogs and puppies too in public places.

In that part of Sydney it would be a cricket hat - and I don't mean a baggy green

I have actually been doing that run a reasonable amount lately, just for something different. People need to aware that the Nurranginny reserve bit is locked at night, and doesn’t open until 7 or 7:30 IIRCg-boaf wrote: ↑Tue Dec 29, 2020 8:38 pmIn this section, use Nurragingy Reserve:

One good thing is that some of the roads in that area have cycleways beside them. So at least you have alternative ways to get around the closure. If only the rest of Sydney were so well catered for.robbo mcs wrote: ↑Wed Dec 30, 2020 8:10 pmI have actually been doing that run a reasonable amount lately, just for something different. I went past the accident site yesterday - that must have been pretty wild for the car driver! It had to go through that big wall and then up a small hill.

I really hope during the development there will still be a continuous cyclepath able to be used.

By way of comparison, the schedule for the Northern Beaches tunnels includes a 5 year closure of a section of the shared pathway that runs alongside the Gore Hill Freeway. There is a currently a 'community consultation' thing underway but it remains to be seen whether or not this will have any impact.

With the M7 though it is very, very busy. Some days it is rush hour. The local shared paths near the M7 wouldn't cope with that level of traffic.AndrewCowley wrote: ↑Thu Mar 11, 2021 12:15 pm

I hope we still keep the hilly Elizabeth Drive section - can't have it getting too flat.
I still hold out some hope for a M4 cycleway section between Cumberland Highway and the M7 or even Northern Road too and link those all up. That would be ideal. It would also mean Prospect Dam shared-path can be avoided permanently, no more worrying about closed gates at 4:30pm during winter months or 6:30pm gates closed during summer.

It’s the benchmark for all of them.AndrewCowley wrote: ↑Thu Mar 11, 2021 3:11 pmThe M7 path is so good that it needs to be connected to a heap of things. Would be great if the connection from the M2 was better, rather than having to suffer the puncture-fest that is the M2 shoulder.

However, saw something I have never seen before in many rides. They were towing a big blowing machine along the path, blowing all the leaves and debris off. It works amazingly well. The bits they hadn't done yet were covered in loads of leaves, twigs etc, due to the recent weather. However, the bits they had done were pristine.
I guess it had never dawned on me that they must clean the path, but now I know how

Commuting from Penrith to Rydalmere & back, I'd love nothing more than an M7 style cycle-way straight down the M4. At the very least, a good connection between Cumberland Hwy to the M7 Wallgrove Rd area would be nice.g-boaf wrote: ↑Thu Mar 11, 2021 12:49 pmWith the M7 though it is very, very busy. It could even go alongside the Great Western Highway quite easily. From Cumberland Highway to M7 would be very simple.jovan.s1987 wrote: ↑Mon Apr 19, 2021 6:12 pmCommuting from Penrith to Rydalmere & back, I'd love nothing more than an M7 style cycle-way straight down the M4. (right click and open in new window to see it larger)
Annoying. They already close the gates at 4:30pm in the afternoon (non daylight savings time) and have a previous habit of closing the gates in daylight savings time at 5:45pm (despite the 6:30pm indications on the signs).
I just wish we had a cycleway alongside either the M4 motorway or the Great Western Highway linking up to the M7. GWH would be very easy, there is miles of room alongside it. And it won't have gates or closure times.

Also there was a rock on the path down near the Serbian Cultural Club - which sadly caught out a teenage rider this morning, bringing him down. He seemed okay, bike was a bit scratched up at the front but no obvious injuries and helmet looked okay. This rock must have been deliberately thrown there.
