Fortunately, or maybe unfortunately, the use of these carriers was before my time
Only used at the beginning of my cycling life by others in London and SE England where it was often not far to the event and a lot of folk still didn't have cars in the late 60's/ early 70's.
I went looking for the Cyclo tub carriers in my collection and I can't find the steel ones in the chaos that is my shed at the moment!
I did find the alloy Cyclo ones tho and a pair made by Cliff Peters shop in Birmingham (obviously well used) which illustrates how easy it was to make your own.

Might have to start a separate 'Tub Carrier' thread soon :P

Well done, pretty simple item, different ways of executing that same task and as you noted pretty simple thing to fabricate on your own.

The vicissitudes in the market still fascinate; scored a 531c Hillman and Kenevans 653 Track for a total of $270. They lingered around for days too and not in woop woop

Pics please.

Is the Hillman the one in Newport? Surprised it hung around for as long as it did.

Peter Allan - South African I believe (not Rio...) looks decent although wouldn't mind some more pictures.

Tamari - were based on the Gold Coast. Allegedly had frames made by Masi, probably not this one though, looks lower end with the 501 tubing, but would still be a great frame with a bit of love. Possibly Abeni/Europa built?

Interesting!!
I saw another old brand of bike this week that appeared to be South African in origin from the Google searches... can't remember the brand name at the moment though.

Who made Cecil Walkers in the 80s/early 90s? There's a Columbus steel with shimano 105 for a nice price on fb.

The other South African marque could be Zini.

I'm not sure if it was exclusive, but Kevin Wigham of Paconi put together a lot of Cecil Walkers during that timeframe.

You're a fountain of knowledge P!N20 !

I looked through my history... the brand was Alpina. There's a thread on here that I'd found that mentioned it after seeing one for sale.

Apart from the awful photos, this could be interesting for those in Sydney:

Not so sure about the 'lightweight Japanese steel' reference, but possibly an interesting Speedwell in ACT:

Doubt it's a Moser, but looks interesting: https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/ascot-v ... 1324362771

How many builders did two cable guides? I know of Colnago and Daccordi, perhaps there were others.

The seat stay caps look a bit Kev Wigham/Paconi.

Certainly has some very nice componentry on it.

I might be wrong, but neither the crank nor bars appear to be original. As for the claim "was ridden by the Swedish champion Michael Andersson in the 1999 UCI World Championships Elite Individual Time Trial in Treviso Italy", weren't monocoque bikes banned by the Lugarno charter at the end of 1996?

A quick google search certainly puts paid to the claim of being ridden to second place in the 1999 world championship time trial!

Wasn't even held in Treviso.
