Not too sure what it is, some sort of piece the Army uses for temporary bridges maybe but used as part of an memorial. Located at the Kapooka Tragedy Memorial.

To my somewhat surprise I had never heard of the Kapooka Tragedy, so I looked it up.CyclingBidgee wrote: ↑Mon Dec 06, 2021 12:43 pmNot too sure what it is, some sort of piece the Army uses for temporary bridges maybe but used as part of an memorial. Located at the Kapooka Tragedy Memorial.

As the article reveals, it has been referred to as a “forgotten” tragedy, it’s significance diminished by the various factors including it being overshadowed by all the loss of life that occurred up to that point in the WW2, which ended soon after.

Thanks for sharing. I was also unaware of this tragedy. It's immensely poignant.elantra wrote: ↑Sat Dec 11, 2021 12:15 pmTo my somewhat surprise I had never heard of the Kapooka Tragedy, so I looked it up.

The Cervelo S5 has clocked up over 15,000km. It still runs as smoothly and silently as it did when I got it.
It has needed just a change of brake pads and that's it - completely trouble free.

Merlin lives! Machined a 27.2 shim for the seat post to fit the 32.8 seat tube ID, but I will eventually make a shim for the original 31.6 size. Collar repair happening tomorrow, temporary Giant collar fits perfectly though. Ultegra 10x2 compact, Pro gravel flare bars, my usual Arione seat, and the wheelset I built a few years back (Ultegra hubs to Sun CR18 rims). Will need to seek out a solution to the maaaassiiiiive amount of fork shudder under heavy braking at speed though. Other than that it rides really nicely and fits pretty well.

You don't see many of them around where I am.
I have never ridden one.
Looks like it will carry a stack of stuff.
How is it to ride?

Officially 60kg in the tub which is on the lower end for a bucket bike (I'm thinking it's a conservative number, normally it's around 100kg for competitors). GVM is 220kg and the bike weighs 50kg, luckily it comes with Magura 4 pot brakes with 180mm & 203mm rotors.
It's a blast to ride, especially taking kids around.
There is a little bit of adjustment time to get use to the handling (I almost binned it on the very first pedal stroke during the test ride) but it feels very natural after a couple minutes. It is surprisingly agile and very stable in most situations, I find it will go around any corner I would take at 15km/h+ on a road bike with ease. The slow, tight corners and U-turns are more challenging and if you hit full lock it can want to over balance ( I just put a leg down to catch it, because at you will be at walking pace to hit full lock).
The Cube comes with a Cane Creek Viscous headset to slow the steering down and requires more exaggerated movements. I rode it on my commute for the everyday for first week then jumped on the XC bike and it felt almost twitchy in comparison.

60kg would be more than the week's shopping I guess.blizzard wrote: ↑Sat Oct 29, 2022 10:14 pm

A lot of stuff.
I thought the tight turns could be testing but no real clue.
Sounds like fun and a great practical goer.
