Hi guys,
About an hour ago I found a Garmin Edge 1000 on the Main Yarra Trail near the bridge by Walmer St near Victoria Gardens.
I left a note where I found it with my phone number. And since coming home have found that there are no contact details saved. There is some info (including D.O.B) so if you lost yours on 11/2/17 near there please contact me at kylesolomonis@Gmail.com with your D.O.B as confirmation so I can return it. If anyone else has ideas on how I can return it to its owner let me know.
Regards, and ride safe all.

I would have preferred to put it there to start to be honest, but new to the site and don't really know the protocol

Don't worry about it and welcome outside.
It's good that you're trying to reunite it to the rightful owner but I don't know if it do belong to someone from this forum.
Hope that it will be returned.
re, of how to return it. Maybe meet somewhere and drop off on cycling route.

I'm not overly tech savvy but isn't there a likely chance of a past or current activity showing a start and (prior to being lost) finish point that may possibly be the owners address or workplace?
Maybe someone with a Strava or Garmin Connect account could plug or bluetooth connect the unit and check for any stored activities, open the map and see.

Yeah it looks pretty brand new.. no saved routes..
Mentioned it to another friend just now and they've suggested Richmond Police Station. Didn't even occur to me! But will drop it off tomorrow.. so yeah.. if anyone reads this.. By tomorrow I'll have given it to them.. and theyll have that DOB info for verification as well to stop someone claiming it who shouldnt

You could always consider selling it to me.
Ummm, maybe Richmond Police is the better option.
Those lads have a bit of a reputation though.
There are (were) bullet holes in the Richmond town hall clock tower face, late night target practice.
Do you trust them?
