Western Australia - Adding on the Munda Biddi?

Postby skD1am0nd » Thu Sep 28, 2023 2:53 pm

Last year I cycled across Australia (route link below) . On that trip, I didn’t have the bike to ride the Munda Biddi. I've heard great things about this trail, so this November I’m heading back with my gravel bikepacking bike to do that. As long as I’m heading all the way to WA (I’m coming from Portland Oregon USA) I thought I might stay a little longer and extend my tour. Extend for 1-3 weeks.

Any ideas on how I could extend my tour and add on another 500-1000km? Maybe a loop at the end? For example, if I rode north, are there nice loops north of Perth? It would be nice to see some part of Australia that I haven’t seen before. I'm open to doing Munda Biddi in either direction. The direction I ride is mostly dependent on a tour options I find to add on.

Thanks for any input

- Scott

There’s a range of shorter off road loops near Perth and one can ride from Mandurah to Muchea on shared paths. Likewise Dunsborough to beyond Busselton.
The Margaret River area has recently defined a range of official tracks.
Past that one needs to start sticking together a route on unsealed roads, powerlines access tracks and similar.
