Lucky Find

Postby celeste boy » Sat May 18, 2019 8:00 pm

I have always wanted a SS roadie. I have a SS MTB which is great and I've had a few attempts at putting together a single speed roadie but nothing worked.
I even won a SS bike on this Forum. Turned out to be too small and the quality turned me off C.....l bikes forever.
BUT...……….there on the side of the road, dumped was a girls bike and a SS! Took it home, replaced a tyre and tube, changed the plastic cranks, new chain, put on a different set of handlebars and replaced the rusted on brakes. I knew that by keeping all those old parts, one day they would come in handy.
Bit of a reality check was when I looked up the brand on the web. Southern Star is a Big W bike!!! But, hey, horizontal dropouts and it's big enough.
Photo will follow.
Made my week.

Cheers

I bought one of those southern star fixie bikes. It had a bent crank and the wheels where a bit buckled. 30 bucks! My mate and i stripped it but..
The bluddy stem was seized into the forks :-(
And the crank was basically welded to the pedal..

Anyway the frame itself is the right size.

Start again and build up from there :-)
