Michael Klim going through a very rough time.

I can imagine some of what must have been going through his head going from very active to really struggling. It’s a very tough thing to take - but his situation is really bad.

The last three weeks have been hell with my sciatic nerve giving me plenty of grief. It started with severe back spasms and then progressed to the nerve pain down through the hammy, calf and into the top of the foot.

Had a FB friend from Canada post a vid of how to release the nerve from the pinched spot yesterday, so I'm going to try it and see if it works because all of my previous stretching and contortionist positions hasn't worked for me. Anyone else suffer from this mongrel thing?

Yeah a quiet one at home but my mindset is a bit toxic at the moment with trying to find rental by the 16-2-23 and trying to recover from the year of work. Fatigue levels are just off the scale but I have to keep pushing on at this point.

Nobody can help, I have people and so does the wife looking out for places for us. If it was only two of us, we could go into an over 40's with no lock in lease, they just require a months notice if you want to leave. Sadly, both of our adult kids are not your normal run of the mill adults. One is like me with the Asperger's and ADHD but very much an extrovert and sadly as a parent (not in a........... I can't think of what to say here but you'll understand) our beautiful daughter from birth, went through hell at school and bullying and was suicidal for many years because of that and the fact that she didn't associate with being female. After many visits to Drs and Specialists, it was determined that she was mentally male, even though all the gene tests showed no sign of that. So as a result of all of that, she became Transgender and has been on hormone treatment for the past 5yrs or maybe a little more and is now referred to as a son.

Just try and wrap your head around all of that and you have a slight understanding of our position with everything. This fact was also kept from me for 18mths also, because they were afraid of my reaction to it but the fact that they thought that way, is/was very sad and disappointing for me because I am very loyal to family and close mates and I should have been given the due respect and told, instead, my wife was tearing herself to pieces mentally which in itself has damaged our marriage but that's another story, we are still together but legally separated but I haven't given up on things but trust issues are an issue with me.

So there you have it, maybe more than I should have typed but if people opened up about crap going on in their life instead of all the secret squirrel stuff, maybe mental health wouldn't be such a huge problem that it has become.

I feel very sorry/angry for the way your child was treated at school.
Some people are bastards and have no respect for the welfare of others.
Part of the reason I am not very social, just cant be bothered dealing with the people I dont like.
I hope it pans out and things improve with time and your son gets stronger and more confident.
One of the most important things is the happiness of those we love.

Well, I don't want to skite...but...the cycling is going great. I've been working with a coach since October, and making big gians, and a couple of weeks ago I had my first-ever race win.

Interest rates are a concern that's for sure. Riding on Zwift a bit up and down (sickness as well), got out on real bike a couple of times for short rides but not officially clear for that yet.

While my partner and I got a major loan 18 months ago, we are in the rather fortunate position that the fixed part has 2.5 years left to run, while the variable portion is entirely offset by savings, meaning we have have a nett 0% interest rate rise over the last 18 months. Enjoying it while we can, but even if things roll out and rates are still here or hereabouts, we have plenty of headroom factored in. We could hit 10% and be OK for a while. Hopefully the RBA gets some clarity about inflation causality soon, but I'm not going to count on it. Apparently we're all earning too much. Funny. My last effective pay rise was over 4 years ago.

Don't envy you there, we are paying an extra $400 a month on rent and that's bad enough.

On face value, finishing 20th in a fleet of 21 boats is pretty ordinary, but the racing was tight, and although I've been sailing for many years, I'm still quite new to driving this particular class of boat (International Fireball, if you want to get your googles on). Big buzz to be racing against 20 other boats of the same type instead of the one or two in weekly club racing.

Good on you, that would be very............confronting............nerve racking.............and very left of field thinking compared to racing treadlies.

We are lucky enough to be freehold, but need some finance to build the new house (contract about to be signed) but will sell the old one after, so it will only be short term and still be freehold after.

I feel for those renting and facing that huge change in mortgage payments. Just the repayments for the short term loan that we are looking at are frightening !!

Well done - crewing is hard enough - doubt I would ever have the edge to steer under even twilight "racing" conditions
Some very fancy round the world racing going on just now and kinda weird that both racers have boats just passed, passing and close to passing going around cape horn - worth a follow if you are not yet - some great drone shots and on board vids from the ocean race - boy oh boy they have some big tech going on ( not sure I would like to be up the mast patching masts in the southern oceans)
